Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a dedicated and meticulous Staff Accountant to join our team in Rochester, New York. In this long-term contract role, you will play a key part in managing our financial operations, ensuring accuracy in records, and supporting critical accounting processes. Responsibilities:

- Assist in preparing and reviewing corporate tax returns to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

- Manage sales tax processes, including calculations, reporting, and timely submissions.

- Record and reconcile journal entries to maintain accurate financial records.

- Oversee general ledger activities, ensuring all entries are accurate and up-to-date.

- Support month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing necessary reports and analyses.

- Collaborate with team members to improve accounting procedures and ensure efficiency.

- Maintain detailed and organized financial records for audits and internal reviews.

- Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.

- Provide support during tax audits and respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies.

- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and tax laws to ensure compliance. Requirements - Demonstrated experience in corporate tax preparation and sales tax processes.

- Proficiency in recording and reconciling journal entries with attention to accuracy.

- Strong knowledge of general ledger management and financial reporting.

- Familiarity with month-end and year-end closing procedures.

- Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret financial data.

- Thorough understanding of accounting principles and practices.

- Effective organizational and communication skills for working in a team environment.

- Ability to adapt to changing regulations and maintain compliance with tax laws.
