Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis. This position is based in Rochester, New York, and offers an opportunity to contribute to a non-profit organization by managing critical accounting processes. The ideal candidate will support various financial functions, including reporting, budgeting, and compliance, while ensuring accuracy and efficiency in daily operations.

Responsibilities:

- Perform month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

- Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

- Prepare and review bank reconciliations to ensure financial data integrity.

- Develop and implement standard operating procedures to improve accounting workflows.

- Assist with governmental contract reporting and compliance requirements.

- Analyze balance sheet items to identify discrepancies and provide resolutions.

- Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate accounting components with Net Suite.

- Support financial reporting and budgeting processes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

- Contribute to creating efficiencies and streamlining processes within the accounting department.

- Provide backup for back-office accounting duties as needed. Requirements - Proven experience with month-end and year-end close processes.

- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and journal entries.

- Expertise in account and bank reconciliations.

- Familiarity with Quick Books and other accounting software.

- Experience with governmental contract reporting is highly preferred.

- Ability to create and implement process improvements and standard procedures.

- Strong analytical skills for resolving balance sheet discrepancies.

- Excellent organizational and communication abilities to collaborate effectively.
