Overview
Lead Heavy Equipment Mechanic role at WM with focus on stable work, safety, and opportunities for training and development. Responsibilities- Lead and conduct the repair and maintenance of heavy machinery and mechanical equipment, including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.
- Service and repair heavy equipment such as bulldozers, scrapers, backhoes, front end loaders, yard trucks, farm tractors, forklifts, and company cars.
- Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, and instruct less experienced mechanics in dismantling processes.
- Repair electrical equipment; diagnose and repair differentials, hydraulic systems, motors, transmissions, drives, air conditioning systems, and electrical systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance according to site checklists.
- Complete paperwork and admin tasks such as work orders, card files, PM checklists, and oil samples.
- Service and maintain other equipment such as light plants, water pumps, welders, and related equipment.
- 6 years of maintenance mechanic experience on heavy equipment.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Be over 18 years of age.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.

- Must exert physical effort including frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, and climbing; constantly standing, walking, and grasping; occasionally sitting and balancing.

- Exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes or similar elements often.
- Work environment may include inside garage, shop, or gas plant conditions as well as outside with inclement weather, heat, and humidity.
