Pet Smart’s Pet Associate (Retail Sales Associate) is responsible for engaging with pet parents and their pets while providing positive experiences and upholding the company’s vision, mission, values, and strategy. This role also shares responsibility for store cleanliness, maintenance, pet safety standards, and the direct care of pets within our store.

• Engage with pet parents in person, over the phone, at the sales register, and online.
• Greet pet parents and answer questions throughout the store.
• Prepare online orders for in-store pickup and ensure a positive experience.
• Care for store-owned pets, including feeding, watering, and cleaning habitats.
• Maintain store cleanliness standards.
• Support weekly price changes and promotional pricing.
• Stage and sort new products to match sales floor plans.
• Stock and recover products to meet sales standards.
• Recommend and sell merchandise, services, and live pets.
• Administer pet medications as directed by a veterinarian.
• Promote events like adoption weekends, charity events, etc.
• Ensure safety for associates, pets, and pet parents.
• Respond promptly to sick or injured pets and seek veterinary care as needed.
• Assist in various store areas as required.

• Follow all company policies and procedures.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexible schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.

• Stand, walk, climb ladders, and handle objects; reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. Vision abilities include depth perception.
• Lift up to 50 pounds frequently; team lift over 100 pounds occasionally.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, pet hair, and moderate noise levels; handling live animals is common.
