Nature of Work
The Pool Facility Lead works closely with the Recreation Supervisor to support the outdoor pool operations. This is a limited term position that is responsible for participating in the daily operations of the pool and providing work direction to the outdoor pool staff, including being the in-charge person at the pool to address concerns and emergencies, scheduling pool staff, ensuring the facility is closed and secured at days' end, and maintaining all necessary reports and records.

This position must be able to interact with the public in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner.

Work Schedule:
Aquatics Center: Primary work is available late May through early September (40 hours per week); however, some pre-planning work will be necessary in March and April (requiring 10-20 hours per week). Work schedules vary between 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM, Monday - Friday, and 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM Saturday and Sunday.

Limited Term Appointment:This is a limited term position that will be available until Wednesday, September 2nd, and is contingent upon the availability of allocated funds, as well as favorable performance by the incumbent. At the end of this time, the position will be eliminated unless the City elects ongoing continuation.

Pay Rate: $30.58 per hour

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


* Provide work direction to outdoor pool staff

• Oversee the daily operations of the pool.
• Create staff schedules to ensure coverage during open pool hours.
• Assists in hiring seasonal staff. Train and coach them on day-to-day tasks.
• Ensure employee timekeeping is accurate; sign off on timecards.
• Coordinate with the Recreation Supervisor on updated practices; provide recommendations for changes.
• Follow prescribed record keeping procedures, including incidents.
• Maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other staff, and community members via professional and courteous communication, information sharing, providing feedback, and problem solving as needed.
• Assist in the implementation of policies and procedures pertaining to the operations of the Division.

* Customer service

• Engage and interact with the public by greeting and assisting them.
• Answer complaints from the public and help navigate other challenging situations that may arise.
• Follow prescribed cash handling procedures.
• Utilize recreation management software to process registration and ticket fees.
• Ensure adherence to safety practices and procedures.

* Perform Other Duties as assigned or necessary

• Perform lifeguard duties when short staffed or in emergencies.

* ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma
• Worked 2 seasons at an outdoor pool, with at least one of those seasons leading/overseeing staff.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience with recreation programming.
• Experience working in a similar role, or with people from diverse communities.

However, all lifeguards must possess the ability to perform swimming rescues on drowning victims including approaching, breaking holds, and carrying people, which may require the removal of an adult victim from the water.
