The Gift & Front-End Retail Supervisor plays a critical role in delivering Sargent’s signature customer experience at the front of the store. This position is responsible for leading the cashier team, overseeing day‑to‑day front‑end operations, and ensuring the gift and impulse areas are well‑merchandised, organized, and welcoming.
This role is not administrative in nature. Instead, it is a highly visible, hands‑on customer‑facing leadership position focused on cashier management, cash handling accuracy, training, and maintaining a clean, efficient, and engaging front‑of‑store environment.
In many ways, the front end is the most important part of the store since it is where our products are sold and where the final impression is made. The Gift & Front-End Retail Supervisor ensures this experience is accurate, efficient, and enjoyable for both customers and staff. The Gift and Front-End Retail Supervisor reports to the Store Manager.
Key Responsibilities Cashier & Front-End Leadership- Lead and manage all cashiering and money‑handling activities with a strong emphasis on accuracy and integrity.
- Establish and maintain systems that consistently achieve a high level of cash‑handling accuracy.
- Train, coach, and support cashiers in all front‑end responsibilities, including:
- Point‑of‑sale operation.
- Customer service and problem resolution.
- Phone etiquette.
- Opening and closing procedures.
- Ensure daily opening and closing checklists are completed, signed, and followed consistently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient cash wrap and front‑end workspace.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for front‑end questions, issues, or customer concerns during assigned shifts.
- Oversee merchandising, stocking, and presentation of gift, impulse, and front‑end product categories.
- Ensure displays are neat, well‑stocked, seasonally relevant, and aligned with Sargent’s visual standards.
- Create and maintain a store restock list.
- Assist with placing small to medium gift orders.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the gift shop, entryway, and immediate exterior areas near the front of the store.
- Model Sargent’s high standards of hospitality, professionalism, and plant‑centered enthusiasm.
- Support the store manager and team by keeping the front end running smoothly, especially during peak business hours.
- Maintain flexibility throughout the day, shifting between cashier leadership, customer assistance, and merchandising as business needs change.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with managers and peers to ensure seamless daily operations.
- Customers experience fast, friendly, and accurate checkouts.
- The front‑end is consistently clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Cashiers feel supported, trained, and confident in their roles.
- Gift and impulse areas are visually appealing and contribute meaningfully to sales.
- The front‑end operation runs smoothly even during high‑volume seasonal periods.
- A genuine love of people and delivering excellent customer service.
- Prior experience with cashiering, cash handling, or retail supervision.
- Strong attention to detail, especially around money handling and procedures.
- The ability to lead by example in a fast‑paced, seasonal retail environment.
- A flexible, solution‑oriented mindset and willingness to assist wherever needed.
- The ability to stand for long periods and lift items such as boxed merchandise or potted plants.

- This position is full-time, year‑round and includes open and close retail shifts as well as seasonal overtime.
- Pay range $17.86-$22.06
