Responsibilities

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Mayo Family Clinic Southeast provides comprehensive primary‑care services, collaborating closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, registered nurses, allied health professionals, and learners to build meaningful, long‑term relationships with patients and families.

  • Provides direct patient care within scope of practice for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
  • Conducts focused assessments and reinforces patient education
  • Administers medications, immunizations, and treatments such as injections, ear lavages, nebulizer treatments, wound care, catheter care, and suture/staple removal
  • Supports population needs for preventive care services, chronic disease management, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Assists with in‑clinic procedures
  • Independently manages a nurse visit calendar and clinic workflows to support timely, coordinated care
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills and may assist with mentoring, instruction, committees, or quality improvement projects as assigned
Qualifications
  • Graduate of a school of practical nursing or has passed LPN Boards after a defined period in a professional nursing program. If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of LPN experience in an applicable setting is required.
  • Preferred:
    One year LPN experience within the last five years
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Computer skills required; prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred
  • Ability to work daytime hours; flexibility may be required to meet staffing needs
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting
  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing preferred
License and Certifications
  • Current LPN license by applicable state requirements
  • Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs:
    American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area
  • Positions that are not on campus may not require current Basic Life Support (BLS) competency as determined by the work area

Compensation: $24.72 - $36.10/hour. Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
