- Administer medications, both simple and complex, to students under the guidance of a licensed school nurse and in accordance with school policy (for example, Gastrostomy tube (G-tube), wound dressing, catheterization).
- Assist in conducting school screenings such as vision, hearing, and early childhood screenings under the supervision of a Licensed School Nurse.
- Collaborate with the Licensed School Nurse in developing services for students with special needs (such as technical nursing procedures, homebound services, transportation Medications).
- Administer first aid, emergency, and episodic care in alignment with their nursing licensure and expertise.
- Prevent the transmission of communicable diseases by gathering student immunization data in compliance with State regulations.
- Work harmoniously with the faculty and staff of the institution to provide healthcare services to all students.
- Maintain accurate documentation.
- Ensure confidentiality by following the regulations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Minimum requirement - Current Minnesota Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license or Registered Nurse (RN).
- CPR and first aid certificate required.
- Proficient in using electronic health records.
- Knowledge of and experience working with children with special health needs.
- Experience managing chronic health conditions.
- Ability to engage effectively and positively with employees at all organizational levels and various partners.
- Believes that all students can attain high levels of learning.
- Takes responsibility for the learning of our students and his/her own performance.
- Possesses the knowledge and skills to build effective educational experiences that benefit all students.
- Functions as an effective member of the educational/school team.
