Position Description

Inpatient surgery pharmacist position at Mayo Clinic Hospital - Saint Marys Campus in Rochester, MN. The pharmacist provides exceptional care to patients throughout their peri-operative journey, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases of medication management. Decentral clinical services include collaborative practice with multidisciplinary teams, identification of drug-related problems, provision and documentation of recommendations through progress notes regarding optimization of drug therapy, admission and discharge medication reconciliation, transition of care planning, participation on discharge rounds, intermittent surgical team rounds, and direct patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Assess medication therapy regimens and provide medication therapy management.
  • Verify/enter medication orders and participate in medication distribution.
  • Monitor medication therapy and educate on pharmaceutical care services.
  • Document medication therapy plans and provide medication use education.
  • Conduct consultation and contribute to progress notes; participate in precepting Mayo Clinic pharmacy and other discipline learners.
  • Engage in quality initiatives, multidisciplinary research, and opportunities for scholarly activities.
  • Pursue academic appointment opportunities and progression through appointment ranks by achievement.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy. Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.

    D.) degree or equivalent experience.
Additional

Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of pharmacy residency (PGY1 or PGY2) and/or equivalent experience of 3 years in practice.
  • Evidence of ongoing scholarly pursuits including research/quality improvement, publications, or scientific presentations.
  • Relevant applicable pharmacy experience working in a progressive and collaborative practice environment.
  • Experience and/or interest in teaching and/or precepting.
  • Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy Specialty (BCPS).
Licensing and Certification
  • License to practice Pharmacy in the State of Minnesota or eligibility for licensure.

  • Compensation: $145,000 annually, minimum. Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
