Chemical Dependency Technician (The Gables) #1988

The Gables is currently looking for a detail-oriented individual to work at our Rochester Location in a part-time capacity as a Chemical Dependency Technician. The ideal candidate would be available for 3rd shift (11:30 pm to 8:00 am) every other weekend – Friday and Saturday. This role pays $20 per hour with an additional $2 per hour for any hours worked between 11:00 pm – 7:00 am.

As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the Chemical Dependency Technician (CD Tech) will assist clients from admission through discharge, providing client support through the extended substance and mental health treatment process. CD Techs supervise and manage client behavior and help manage client crisis situations when necessary. They assist on-duty counselors as required in direct support of program goals and objectives.

CD Techs require professionalism, discretion, and the ability to exercise judgment. They must manage competing demands on their time and adhere to the program schedule and rules. This includes situations where a client may be under the influence of a controlled substance or struggling with mental health symptoms; the CD Tech will respond in a professional, therapeutic, and positive manner.

They must be able to react and respond to medical emergencies, conveying a positive and professional image to clients, staff, and visitors. CD Techs must maintain client confidentiality in accordance with state and federal guidelines and HIPAA requirements.

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• Age 18 or older
• Current First Aid/ CPR certification and Medication Administration certificate (Residential only) obtained within 30 days of starting work
• Able to pass Minnesota DHS background study
• Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds
• Physical Demands:
  Sitting for extended periods; daily use of general office and/or residential facility equipment; lifting (max 25 pounds); minimal reaching, bending, and stooping; ability to navigate program and office environment (ascending/descending steps, passing through doorways, accessing facilities)
• Proficiently understand, follow instructions, and communicate effectively in English; able to document services in writing in English

• High School Diploma or GED
• Previous experience in an addiction treatment facility or related field
• Competent computer skills and ability to enter information in various systems
