Responsibilities
  • Assist in the observations, planning, interventions, and evaluation of care for patients within the area assignment pursuant to Prairie Care policies and procedures.
  • Assist Partial Hospitalization Program Social Workers and Nurses with delegated non‑clinical tasks to coordinate care and enhance patient functioning.
  • Ensure safety of patients and staff by constantly monitoring the milieu for potential safety hazards and reporting issues appropriately.
  • Ensure safety through metal detection and belongings search.
  • Effectively use therapeutic approaches to manage the milieu and de‑escalate escalating patients.
  • Create an environment that provides the best care and the best patient experience.
  • Keep the unit organized by notifying the correct individual when supplies are low and restocking supplies.
  • Sanitize program utensils, toys, and other containers/materials as needed.
  • Monitor the unit to ensure tidiness and cleanliness.
  • Perform clerical functions as directed.
  • Be oriented and educated in trauma‑informed, culturally responsive care (including gender, cultural differences, and age factors) for the assigned unit.
  • Provide coverage for skills, goals, and activity groups.
  • Make initial communication/scheduling of staffing meetings with schools upon admission.
  • Coordinate transportation for patients.
  • Complete intakes as designated.
  • Perform non‑clinical administrative tasks as delegated by the Social Worker or RN.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • At least 9 months of experience working at Prairie Care as a psychiatric technician.
  • Provide person‑centered services through a trauma‑informed and culturally responsive lens.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Display a professional attitude in all aspects of performance.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products, fax machine, and copier machine.
  • Ability to shift smoothly and rapidly between dissimilar tasks.
  • Skill to communicate well both verbally and in the EHR.
  • Ability to react quickly and calmly as part of a team to handle volatile and potentially emergency situations.
  • Ability to make effective decisions while in stressful situations and circumstances.
  • After training, ability to manage disruptive and explosive patients.
  • Pay range: $22 to $28 per hour, depending on education and experience.
