. The Lab Processing Assistant will support the Anatomic Pathology Core Lab’s high‑volume histology operations.

- Perform pre‑analytic specimen processing.
- Operate a variety of laboratory and office equipment.
- Enter information and test orders into the laboratory computer system.
- Respond to a high volume of phone calls seeking laboratory testing information.
- Ensure correct patient identification on specimens.
- Document and resolve pre‑analytic specimen‑related issues.
- Potentially perform complex reagent preparation.
- Manage work unit supply inventory.
- Operate automated systems.
- Provide training to others.
Individuals hired to this position will be required to complete 2 years in this role before becoming eligible to apply for other positions within Mayo Clinic.

- Associate degree or a high school diploma or equivalent with 2 years of work experience, including clinical laboratory and/or other relevant experience.
- Associate degree in a health or science field preferred.
- Prior experience or knowledge of computers, keyboarding, telephone operations, and other office equipment desirable.
- Ability to accurately read specimen labels and work with numbers to prevent mislabeling.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent human‑relations skills and effective oral and written communication.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Flexibility to accommodate scheduling adjustments, off‑shifts, holiday, and weekend work assignments.
- Attention to detail and strict adherence to safety requirements for handling chemicals, reagents, and infectious agents.

- Transcripts (unofficial copy accepted) or NACES detailed international equivalency for foreign degrees (required – must include a detailed equivalency evaluation, show U.S. equivalent degree, and be completed by an NACES or AICE‑listed organization).

- DLMP employees (less than 2 years in current lab/position) must attach early release approval from supervisor (required).
- Non‑DLMP internal applicants (less than 1 year in current department/position) must attach early release approval from supervisor (required).
