The Cardiovascular Tech (CVT) plays a vital role in the cardiovascular laboratories, assisting healthcare providers in the diagnosis and treatment of serious and complex cardiovascular conditions. Key responsibilities include assisting in the scrub and circulating roles during the procedure, preparing, and maintaining a variety of specialized equipment, providing excellent patient care before, during, and after the procedure. Collaborates and communicates effectively with the care team, and adheres to all regulatory requirements, safety protocols, infection control practices, and patient confidentiality.
Proficient in pediatric, adult, and congenital specialty procedures within their assigned lab.
Qualifications
A graduate of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate academic program in health science (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing). Requires at least 3 years of patient care experience. One (1) year of vascular or cardiovascular lab experience preferred.
Licensure Or Certification
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required. Incumbent in this role must be actively working to be a certified Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) within 18 months of hire into position.
