Chief Engineer - JLL
What this job involves:  Lead critical facility operations for a world-class high-tech environment as JLL's Chief Engineer. This dynamic leadership role combines technical mastery with team management, where you'll oversee complex building systems while developing engineering talent. You'll be the technical authority ensuring operational excellence across all facility infrastructure, from boilers and chillers to emergency generators and Building Management Systems. This customer-facing position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on facility performance while building strong relationships with stakeholders and leading a skilled engineering team to success.
What your day-to-day will look like:

• Lead and manage engineering teams including Facilities Coordinators, Lead Engineers, and Central Utility Plant personnel

• Execute comprehensive maintenance and repair work for boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, and all critical building systems

• Perform complex operating procedures for steam boilers, lab utilities, emergency generators, and propane vaporizers

• Navigate Building Management Systems (BMS) to monitor building health and resolve operational issues

• Conduct scheduled inspections of specialized equipment including CRAC/H units, pumps, breakers, and switches

• Generate and implement Switching Procedures (FSPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs)

• Manage MAXIMO work order systems and ensure timely completion of all maintenance activities

• Negotiate competitive bidding with vendors and maintain third-party vendor relationships

• Conduct performance evaluations, establish training programs, and develop career paths for team members

• Lead daily coordination meetings and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Respond to 24/7 on-call responsibilities for equipment monitoring and emergency situations.

Required Qualifications:

• High school degree, GED, or equivalent

• 6-8+ years of facilities management experience, preferably in high-tech industry

• 3+ years of people management experience preferred

• NETA Certification in High Voltage (115kV) Switchyard and Medium Voltage Substation Operations and Maintenance

• Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC, Mechanical, and Electrical systems including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, generators, and UPS systems

• Experience with CMMS/work order platforms (MAXIMO preferred)

• Ability to maintain professionalism under stressful situations and solve complex problems

• Ability to lift 25 pounds and work in various facility environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related technical field

• Additional technical certifications in electrical, HVAC, or mechanical systems

• Experience in pharmaceutical, data center, or manufacturing environments

• Advanced knowledge of energy management and sustainability practices

• Proficiency in PowerPoint, MS Office, Visio/CAD, and presentation skills

• Strong customer service instincts with outgoing, friendly, and collaborative approach.

Work Shift:

Monday-Friday with 24/7 on-call responsibilities for emergency response
Salary/Comp:  $91,600 to $132,800
