RN Step Down

Job Summary:
A Registered Nurse in the step-down unit is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients who require intermediate-level monitoring and treatment. These patients often have complex medical conditions and may require specialized interventions.

Key Responsibilities:
• Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' health status, including vital signs, physical examination, and review of medical history.
• Monitoring: Continuously monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and other vital signs. Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition promptly.
• Medication Administration: Administer medications and intravenous therapies as prescribed by physicians, following hospital policies and protocols. Monitor and manage potential medication side effects.

Education:

Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment plans, and self-care strategies. Ensure patients understand their medications and discharge instructions.

Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare team members to develop and modify patient care plans. Communicate changes in patient condition or treatment needs effectively.
