Part-time Laborer - Cemetery

This position provides operational and maintenance support to the City's cemeteries; and provides responsive, courteous, and efficient customer service in support of departmental operations.

Note:

This is a part-time, 24 hours per week position. The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.

* Performs routine grounds maintenance including lawn mowing, weed whipping, grave repair, lawn repair, maintaining landscape, pruning trees and shrubs, and trash removal.

* Assists with tree removal, branch clearing and chipper operations.

* Assists with funeral preparations.

* Mixes cement and installs burial markers.

* Assists with installing headstones.

* Assists with digging foundations.

* Other duties as assigned.  

* High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

* State of Michigan drivers license with acceptable driving record.

* Basic proficiency with office computers and related software.

* Previous experience with grounds maintenance or light equipment operation preferred.

* Exposures include working around moving mechanical parts.

* Worker is exposed to seasonal extreme outside weather conditions.
