Assignment DurationThis is a 13-week contract position.
Schedulewith 2-3 weeknight shifts from 7p to 7a every 6 weeks.
Job DescriptionUnder the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and Surgical Team members, the Surgical Technologist is responsible for handling surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during general surgical procedures. The role requires an understanding of the assigned surgical procedure being performed and the ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team. The position also involves providing service support related to patient preparation, patient transport, and assisting surgical care teams with specific patient care duties.
Responsibilities- Scrub on general surgical procedures.
- Prepare the operating room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to the type of surgery.
- Assure proper functioning of instruments and equipment prior to use and report needed repairs appropriately.
- Follow established departmental policies and procedures, including safety and infection control standards.
- Maintain a safe and clean room environment, keeping the area organized and stocked.
- Provide comfort and support for pre-operative patients, maintaining care and privacy.
- Assist in admitting, transferring, and discharging patients from the OR.
- 1-2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist.
- Experience with orthopedic joints and/or robotic surgeries.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
- Current BLS certification required or must become certified within one month of the start date.
