Assistant Professor

Overview

The Oakland University School of Nursing is seeking applications for an exceptional nurse researcher and educator for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 15, 2026. Candidates must hold a current Michigan Registered Nurse license or be eligible for Michigan RN licensure.

Expertise in acute care, maternal-child/OB, pediatrics (prefer pediatric acute care NP certification), leadership, psych/mental health nursing (prefer PMH NP certification), simulation, forensic nursing, or adult-geriatric NP (primary care or acute care) is desired, but all qualified applicants will be considered. The School of Nursing provides high-quality and accessible education to baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral students. Assistant Professors are expected to engage in scholarly activities, teach undergraduate and graduate courses based on their qualifications, and demonstrate a commitment to OU, the SoN, and professional service.

• Completed doctorate (PhD, DNP, DNSc, etc.) from an accredited university, or enrollment in a doctoral program with near completion (dissertation or project) and evidence of degree completion prior to employment.
• Evidence of an active or promising program of research, including publications, presentations at scientific/professional meetings, and grant applications/funding.
• A minimum of two years of previous/current teaching experience in a nursing program.
• Current, unrestricted RN license or eligibility to obtain a Michigan RN license if hired.
• Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
