Be among the first 25 applicants. This mechanical & electrical plant fitter will report to the field staff supervisor and will work within network operations based in our Rochester office, with travel to sites across Kent, Surrey and Sussex. You will be a permanent employee in our UK Power Networks team.
Salary: £42,005 plus a 3% bonus.
If you are successful, you will need to undertake a medical and DBS reference check.

MainJob Purpose
To work as part of a team, carrying out Inspection, Maintenance and defect repairs of mechanical plant and electrical equipment at voltages up to and including 132 kV.
Principal Accountabilities- Responsibility for all aspects of Safety, Health and Environment relevant to this role.
- Comply with all UKPN DSRs, policies and procedures and work to a high standard of quality.
- Perform risk assessments for the task and demonstrate a strong safety culture.
- Report hazards and defects that cannot be rectified through the appropriate reporting procedure.
- Inspection and Maintenance of plant and equipment up to and including 132 kV.
- Communicate with control and perform stand‑by duties to maintain network security (where appropriately authorised).
- Operate handheld IT equipment to receive job instructions and record asset data information.
- Act as an ambassador for UK Power Networks and deliver excellent customer service.
- Work independently or as part of a team.
You will be required to work at any location within the UK Power Networks area.
Skills and ExperienceRequirements:
- Mechanical or Electrical apprenticeship.
- Current driving licence.
- Experience of site work, with mechanical bias.
- City & Guilds Part 232/2339 in electrical/electronic qualification.
- Experience working on regional electricity networks and comprehensive knowledge of the electrical distribution network.
- Competent to work on the SPN network.
- Experience as a Permit to Work recipient and leading a fitting team.
- Experience working at height using ladders and PASMA scaffolds.
- HGV licence.
