Launch your engineering career in Mechatronics Maintenance with Amazon. This apprenticeship will give you hands‑on experience in both electrical and mechanical disciplines while working with cutting‑edge technology.
As part of the Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team, you will maintain a wide range of equipment and work spaces, ensuring machine uptime, safety, and continuous improvement. You will be responsible for installation, testing, fault‑finding, and planned maintenance of complex automated equipment.
Key job responsibilities
- Carrying out proactive and preventative maintenance
- Carrying out reactive repairs and fault diagnosis in a live distribution warehouse
- Using the latest tools to maximise equipment effectiveness
- Making modifications and upgrades to existing equipment
- Upholding health and safety policies and practices
- Working on continuous improvement projects
Throughout the apprenticeship you will learn fault diagnosis, preventative maintenance, fluid power systems, mechanical device maintenance, electrical wiring and testing, hydraulics and pneumatics, and PLC operations. You will also contribute to CAD design, 3D printing, and general site maintenance.
The programme culminates in an Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering (Mechatronics Maintenance) combining on‑the‑job training with HNC in Engineering or Mechatronics study. The first 12 months are full‑time residential training that may be located at a training provider or Amazon facility. Accommodation and travel support will be provided as required.
You will work in shift patterns covering days, nights, and weekends to support Amazon’s 24/7 operation.

Important Qualification Reminder
To secure this apprenticeship, you must provide proof of all required qualifications by 17 July 2026. Failure to provide proof by this date will result in withdrawal of any conditional offer.
Basic Qualifications
- You must be a UK national or a non‑UK national with the right to work in the UK, or an EU national with settled status in the UK. You must have lived in the UK, an EEA country, or a British overseas territory for at least 3 years prior to the apprenticeship start (September 2026).
- If on a visa, your visa must permit you to work and reside in England for the entire apprenticeship duration (September 2030).
- You will be resident in the UK for the entire duration of the programme.
- You are not currently registered to study on a UK government‑funded course ending August 2026 or later.
- You will be 18 years or older before entering an Amazon building (September 2026).
- You must have a minimum of 3 GCSEs at grades 9‑4 / A‑C (or equivalent):
Maths, English, and a science/technology subject. - If you have qualifications outside the UK, you will need a Statement of Comparability via UK ENIC.
- This is a 36‑48 month fixed‑term apprenticeship. You must not already hold a higher‑level qualification in a similar field.
- Applicants should have little or no prior experience in the occupation.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 GCSEs at grades 9‑4 / A‑C (or equivalent), including Maths, English, and a science/technology subject.
- Achievement or study of a T‑Level in an Engineering subject, or 'A' Levels with an emphasis on science & technology, or similar.
