Overview

Job Title: Life Enrichment Assistant

Position Summary: Life Enrichment Assistants assist with planning and providing activities and fitness programming for the residents of our community, as well as our community volunteer program. The Life Enrichment Assistant supports the efforts of the Life Enrichment Director in assessing residents’ interests, needs, and abilities, and providing quality activities programming both inside and outside of the community. They are responsible for encouraging the participation and socialization of residents and volunteers.

This position reports to the Life Enrichment Director and is part of the Life Enrichment team. Our Life Enrichment Assistants work with enthusiasm to enhance our residents’ quality of life by addressing the residents’ social, physical, and mental health. They value the opportunity to blend their ideas and personality into programs that bring excitement and energy into our residents’ lives.

Our Life Enrichment Department offers engaging activities and programs that encourage our residents to explore their interests and expand their horizons. Residents participate at their own pace and shine through dynamic activity involvement. They keep activities fresh and innovative, understanding that our communities thrive from the diversity and creativity of our residents. Our goal is to build programming that enhances our residents’ quality of life and is enjoyable and beneficial to their well-being.

Main

Job Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Assist Life Enrichment Director with coordinating and facilitating activities and events for residents, both inside and outside the community, designed to promote residents’ creativity, physical and mental well-being, socialization, and fun.
  • Encourage resident socialization and participation in activities and events to minimize resident solidarity and promote a positive community environment.
  • Maintain inventory checklist of all supplies and materials required to enhance the Life Enrichment program.
  • Coordinate the community volunteer program. Assign tasks to volunteers and encourage their participation in community events and activities programs.
  • Provide administrative duties to support the Life Enrichment team as assigned by the Life Enrichment Director.
  • Help welcome new residents upon move-in (balloons and framed announcements, shadow box/shelves decorated, etc.).
  • Work alongside care staff to transport residents to activities and events.
  • Drive community vehicle.
  • Assist with all other duties as assigned by the Life Enrichment Director.

Job Requirements
  • Coursework in recreational therapy/gerontology is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
  • Preferred minimum one (1) year previous experience coordinating and conducting group activities.
  • Experience should be relevant to working with seniors. Experience in caring for those with memory impairment is preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant use of manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to reach, bend, twist, squat, kneel, push and pull.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements including simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally sitting, with frequent standing and walking.
