Overview
Pharmacy Operations Manager / Pharmacy Technician role that supports day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities, ensuring efficient workflow and a positive patient experience. The position is a full-time certified pharmacy technician role, supervised by a pharmacist, and may include supervision of other pharmacy technicians and cashiers within policy, law, and ethics.
Responsibilities- Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Supervise and develop pharmacy technician personnel, including scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management; make decisions regarding disciplinary action as appropriate within policy.
- Engage customers and patients, greet and assist with products and services, resolve complaints, respond to requests, and answer non-clinical questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Assist pharmacist in patient care activities such as patient registration, prescription data entry, medication preparation, counting, and verification where allowed by law; support healthcare services including administering vaccines and health screenings where permitted by law.
- Manage non-clinical workflow to ensure timely task completion, maintain inventory, and coordinate daily pharmacy schedules; ensure the pharmacy is clean, stocked, and compliant with policies and regulations.
- Prepare and file reports and records as required by the company and government agencies; support recordkeeping and security safeguards in collaboration with the Pharmacy Manager.
- Monitor and support pharmacy financials, insurance claims processing, and third-party audits; assist in improving operational quality and customer service.
- Lead change, drive new technology/process rollouts, and participate in community outreach, including off-site immunization clinics and partnerships as directed by the Pharmacy Manager.
- Lead performance management for technicians, including discipline and termination recommendations; ensure compliance with state and federal laws and company policies.
- Oversee technician hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and ongoing development; monitor training completion and adherence to policies.
- Identify gaps in knowledge and coordinate training or learning modules to improve team performance; ensure licensure, registrations, and certifications are active and compliant.
- Support asset protection and diversion monitoring; report concerns to the Pharmacy Manager as needed.
- Maintain PTCB certification and other required certifications; pursue ongoing professional development and training as directed.
- Seek feedback and engage in mentoring to improve performance; participate in performance improvement plans as required.
- Communicate with the pharmacy team and relay messages from support centers or other stakeholders; participate in store/pharmacy meetings and regular check-ins with the Store Manager.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
- One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in retail or hospital setting.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations).
- Previous people management/leadership experience.
- Previous Walgreens experience with an Exceeding Expectation on the last performance evaluation.
