Assistant Controller; CPA

Direct Hire | $95K–$115K + Bonus | On-Site | Metro Detroit

We’re representing a U.S.

-based manufacturing organization operating within a regulated defense environment. This role reports directly to the Financial Controller and serves as the operational leader of the accounting and reporting function for the U.S. entity.

This position is highly hands-on and execution-focused, with ownership of month-end close, group reporting submissions, audit coordination, and meaningful involvement in budgeting and financial performance monitoring. It is structured as a key succession-track role supporting the Controller.

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and integrity
• Support inventory and cost accounting within a manufacturing environment
• Prepare and submit financial reporting packages to the international parent organization
• Coordinate intercompany reconciliations and support global reporting timelines
• Play a key role in the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasting cycles
• Monitor budget performance and provide detailed variance analysis
• Support cost analysis, margin monitoring, and operational financial performance
• Support external audits and government-related compliance requirements
• Strengthen internal controls and documentation standards

• CPA required
• 6–10 years of progressive accounting experience
• Manufacturing accounting experience required
• Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
• Experience supporting international or parent-company reporting
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• ERP experience required
• Must meet U.S. government eligibility requirements to work within a regulated defense environment
