Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant - Primary / SEND

Time Plan Education is working with an inclusive primary/SEND setting seeking an Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a diagnosis of ASC across the school. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone experienced in autism who is passionate about communication, sensory regulation and helping children access learning.

As an Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will:

Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with autism in class, in nurture spaces and during transitions.

Use visual timetables, social stories, now/next boards and structured routines to reduce anxiety and support engagement.

Support communication, social interaction and emotional regulation, working closely with teachers, SENCO and external professionals.

Help adapt activities and environments to meet sensory needs and ensure pupils can participate as independently as possible.

The ideal candidate will:

Have experience supporting children with autism in a school or specialist setting.

Be calm, consistent and confident using de‑escalation and positive behaviour support.

Be reflective, patient and committed to inclusive, child‑centred practice.
