Behaviour and Pastoral Teaching Assistant (KS3/KS4)

Full-time, long-term
Location:
Mainstream secondary school, Rochdale
We are recruiting a Behaviour and Pastoral Teaching Assistant to work with KS3 and KS4 pupils who need extra support to engage positively in school. This role is not a general classroom helper position and requires strong behaviour experience.
Requirements (must-have):
Proven experience working with secondary-age pupilsin a UK school
Background in behaviour support, pastoral work or inclusion
Confident managing challenging behaviour using de-escalation strategies
Ability to build positive, professional relationships with pupils
Strong communication skills with teachers, parents and pastoral teams
Desirable:
Experience in an Inclusion Unit, Pastoral Team or PRU/alternative provision
Training in Team Teach/positive handling (or similar)
Key duties:
Supporting identified pupils both in class and in withdrawal spaces
Helping pupils re-engage with learning and follow school routines
Working closely with the pastoral and safeguarding teams
Logging behaviour incidents and contributing to support plans
