Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Senior SEN Teaching Assistant - Intervention Lead
Rochdale, Greater Manchester
Full-time | Term-time only

£100‑£120 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant ready to take the next step in your career? We're working with a forward‑thinking primary school in Rochdale seeking a confident and compassionate Senior SEN Teaching Assistant to lead targeted interventions and support programmes for pupils with a range of additional needs.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated practitioner with strong leadership skills and a passion for inclusive education to play a key role in shaping SEN provision within a supportive and collaborative school environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and deliver structured intervention programmes for pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language Difficulties, and SEMH.
  • Work closely with the SENDCo to monitor and track progress against EHCP targets and intervention outcomes.
  • Support, coach, and mentor other Teaching Assistants – modelling best practice in SEN support and behaviour management.
  • Adapt learning materials and approaches to meet individual needs and encourage engagement.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families to ensure consistency and support.
  • Use data and observations to contribute to reviews, reports, and SEN provision meetings.
  • Champion inclusive classroom practices across the school.
About You
  • Level 3 qualification or higher in Teaching Assistance, Education, or Childcare (essential).
  • Proven experience supporting pupils with a range of SEND needs in either mainstream or specialist settings.
  • Strong understanding of EHCP processes, intervention planning, and progress tracking.
  • Confident leading small groups and delivering personalised learning sessions.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills.
  • Additional training such as Team Teach, ELKLAN, or Thrive is desirable.
