Social Worker – Family Support and Protection Team. Specialism:
Social Worker – Children’s Services. Salary: £39.00 per hour. Contract Type:
Ongoing, Part-Time / Full-Time.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Social Worker to join the Family Support and Protection Team within Children’s Services. In this role, you will work directly with children and families where there are safeguarding concerns, supporting positive change while ensuring children are protected from harm. The position offers flexible working arrangements, a competitive hourly rate, and the chance to make a meaningful impact within a statutory safeguarding service.
Key Responsibilities- Managing a caseload of children and families subject to Child in Need, Child Protection, and pre-proceedings plans.
- Undertaking timely and thorough assessments under Sections 17 and 47 of the Children Act 1989.
- Developing, implementing, and reviewing robust Child in Need and Child Protection Plans that are outcome-focused and regularly evaluated.
- Completing direct work with children and families to assess risk, understand lived experiences, and promote safety and resilience.
- Identifying, assessing, and responding to safeguarding concerns, ensuring appropriate escalation and multi-agency intervention.
- Preparing high-quality assessments, reports, and plans, including court-related work where required.
- Attending and contributing to Child Protection Conferences, Core Groups, legal planning meetings, and court hearings as appropriate.
- Working collaboratively with partner agencies, including health, education, police, and early help services.
- Promoting strengths-based, trauma-informed, and relationship-based practice with a clear focus on risk management.
- Maintaining accurate, timely, and high-quality case records in line with statutory requirements and council policies.
- Working within relevant legislation and guidance, including the Children Act 1989 and Working Together to Safeguard Children.
- Participating in supervision, team meetings, training, and continuous professional development.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work.
- Registration with Social Work England.
- Completion of ASYE or equivalent post-qualifying experience.
- Experience working within statutory children’s social care.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and assessment processes.
- Experience of effective multi-agency working.
- Experience of court proceedings and care cases.
- Experience working with adolescents and complex family dynamics.
- Flexible Part-Time and Full-Time working options.
