Job Overview
A Retail Parts Pro is a full-time sales position focused on supporting advanced functions of the DIY business. The role requires expert knowledge of store systems, automotive systems, and parts, and the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and assist DIY customers. It includes sourcing parts from special orders, FDO, and second sources and maintaining in-depth knowledge of store inventory and maintenance processes.
Primary Responsibilities- Provide GAS2 selling experience for DIY customer visits and phone calls
- Achieve personal/store sales goals and service objectives
- Manage DIY services including battery installation, testing, and wiper installs
- Ensure high standards of customer service and store appearance
- Key holder responsibilities: task assignment and completion, safety, open/close duties
- Assist in store inventory processes: truck put‑away, shoot outs, cycle counts, back stock
- Maintain store cleanliness: floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, parking lot
- Provide DIY services such as battery installation, testing, and wiper installs
- Friendly communication
- Ability to locate and stock parts
- Safety knowledge and skills
- Operating inventory systems and store equipment
- Parts and automotive system knowledge skills
- Operating POS and Parts lookup systems
- Expertise with testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY services
- ASE P2 certified or equivalent
- Advanced solution, project, and product quality recommendation ability
- Advanced parts lookup and sourcing
- Advanced selling skills for DIY
Job Skills
- Working knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostic ability (engine, suspension, brakes, electronic, exhaust, etc.)
- Speak and write English (Spanish a plus)
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals; write simple correspondence
- Understand and execute written, oral, or diagram instructions
- Successfully complete the Parts Knowledge Assessment
- Use basic math accurately in all units of measure
- Use Microsoft Word and Excel effectively
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work assorted days, evenings, and weekends as needed
3–5 years of automotive parts experience and proven sales ability in customer transactions.
Education & Certifications- Must have a valid driver’s license
- ASE certification preferred but not required
- Certificates, licenses, and registrations as applicable
Standard retail store duties, including lifting, standing, and walking as required.
