Directs and coordinates work involving difficult electrical design/maintenance/repair/installation of Authority water/wastewater facilities/equipment. Work is performed according to National Electrical Code/State/County/City/Water/Wastewater regulations. Oversees the work of assigned employees to include performance evaluations/timesheet approvals. Serves as expert resource in guidance/instruction. Graduation from high school/GED equivalent supplemented by course work in electricity/electronics plus five (5) or more years related experience. Master Electrician's license required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Directs and coordinates work of assigned employees.
- Takes active role in developing employees by establishing individual employee goals and objectives. Assures appropriate resources are available to obtain established goals and objectives.
- Makes recommendations to management on appointments and promotions within assigned area.
- Assures employee evaluations are complete and accurate and meet all requirements.
- Serves as an expert resource in the guidance and instruction of the work of subordinate Industrial Electricians and service workers.
- Performs trade work in multiple assigned areas at a Master level, such as millwright, welding, carpentry, HVAC, electrical and plumbing.
- Skilled mastery of controls and PLCs.
- Discusses job requirements with and receives detailed instruction from Industrial Maintenance Superintendent.
- Inspects work in progress to assure conformance with instructions.
- Coordinates with other department operational and technical personnel in the performance of assigned tasks.
- Diagnoses, adjusts, repairs and services the full range of power-driven equipment as found in the water treatment industry.
- May assist with the design of circuitry for new installations.
- Determines correct wire and equipment size.
- Requisition s necessary equipment and orders required materials.
- Wire buildings and makes additions to existing wiring.
- Plans and installs remote control and telemetry through telephone and radio circuits.
- Tests electrical equipment for operation and safety.
- Installs and maintains intra-communication systems and alarms.
- Installs and repairs electrical switches, magnetic starters and relays.
- Installs and repairs electric motors.
- Installs and repairs PLC circuits.
- Sizes pumps, valves, & motors.
- Communicates with power and telephone companies on needed requirements.
- Interprets charts, blueprints and maps.
- Maintains time and material records and prepares simple reports.
- Subject to twenty-four (24) call.
Supervises assigned employees in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
