Responsibilities
  • Monitors/Supervises direct care staff (C.N.A.) in performance of health-related duties. Educates and counsels as needed. Holds staff meetings and provides in-services as required.
  • Consults with Nursing Supervisor/Unit Managers on issues; conducts daily rounds of high-risk residents or residents with wounds per facility policy, including turning and repositioning per standards.
  • Acts as Unit Manager when needed; may be required to cover Assisted Living Unit or any Nursing Unit.
  • Observes and evaluates residents’ physical and emotional status; assesses residents for physician and specialist needs; consults with physicians, receives and implements orders, and schedules appointments as directed.
  • Makes rounds with physicians when necessary; monitors unit cleanliness and ensures unused equipment is stored properly.
  • Completes required documentation (incident/accident reports, charting, referrals, assessments, admissions, shift-change reports, charting medications/treatments in the resident’s electronic record).
  • Documents resident behaviors and health changes; verifies medications for accuracy and notifies pharmacy of errors; prepares and administers medications and treatments per procedure.
  • Responsible for medications and equipment on the unit; maintains a neat and orderly work area; monitors supplies and communicates needs to Central Supply or Nursing Supervisors.
  • Monitors medication refrigerator to ensure current orders and valid dates; assists with in-house activities as nursing schedule permits; ensures residents are fit to participate in activities per staffing.
  • Coordinates with activity staff as needed; ensures safety measures for residents and personnel are followed; supervises cleanliness and upkeep of resident items (e.g., dentures, glasses, hearing aids) and reports repairs to appropriate staff.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications: Must have completed a Practical Nursing program and obtained certification.
  • Additional Considerations: CPR certification required upon hire or willing to obtain.
