Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN to float between ICU and PCU units, requiring comfort in all critical care environments, EPIC proficiency, and either a VA or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in the ICU and PCU units of a large hospital setting
- Patient ratios average 2:1 in the ICU and 5:1 in the PCU
- Night shift with three 12-hour shifts per week, 6:45 pm – 7:15 am
- Travelers must be comfortable floating between all ICU and PCU units, potentially 2-3 times per shift
- Uses Epic EMR and Epic experience is required
- May be scheduled to work every other weekend or six weekend shifts in a six-week block
- Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
- Must be comfortable managing surgical wounds with drains or wound vacs
- Responsibilities include complex medication administration, cardiac monitoring, and respiratory support for critically ill patients
- First-time travelers are accepted
- All requests for time off or special scheduling must be submitted with application
- May be called off one shift per two-week period
- Must provide proof of driver’s license and social security card for consideration
- Active VA or compact RN license required; pending license accepted in limited circumstances
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum of two years ICU experience preferred
- Experience in arterial line management, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, IV therapy, ventilated patient care, BiPAP/CPAP, continuous IV sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, dysrhythmia interpretation, and IV insulin protocols required
- Experience at a large Level 1 or 2 trauma facility required
- Epic charting experience required
