9:30 AM – 3:30 PM Monday – Friday (25 Hours per week)

Pay: $13.00-$14.00

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout The Salvation Army building and grounds. This position performs daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, sanitizing restrooms, and replenishing supplies, while also ensuring trash removal and overall facility upkeep. In addition, the Custodian assists with minor building repairs, basic maintenance, groundskeeping, and event set-up. The role also includes responsibilities such as opening and closing the facility, ensuring safety and security, and providing support to staff and visitors as needed.

By performing these duties, the Custodian helps promote health, safety, and a positive environment for all who use the facility.

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials, supplies, and equipment (over 50 lbs.) frequently.
• Heavy mobility duties requiring frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders or steps, bending, and reaching.
• Ability to transport merchandise and supplies regularly.
• Work may involve operating a vehicle.
• Requires physical energy to perform housekeeping, maintenance, and groundskeeping tasks.
• Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat (above 100°) and cold (below 32°) for periods longer than one hour.
• Exposure to environmental factors such as wind, humidity, and noise (requiring raised voice to be heard).
• Work may involve hazards, including moving mechanical parts, vehicles, electrical currents, chemicals, high places, and high heat.
• Duties are performed in environments that may require use of cleaning agents and equipment.
• Conditions may involve physically demanding and repetitive tasks throughout the workday.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU

• High School Diploma, or G.E.D and one year experience performing general housekeeping duties;
• Or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities;
• Must pass a background check and meet employment eligibility requirements;
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
