Job Title: Human Resources Generalist

Reports To: Human Resources Director

Position Summary

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for supporting day‑to‑day human resources operations with a strong focus on administrative accuracy, compliance, and reliability
. This role requires a solid understanding of federal and Virginia employment laws
, strong attention to detail, and consistent follow‑through.

While the position will partner with managers and business leaders to address employee relations and HR issues as needed, the role is largely administrative and operational in nature.

Responsibilities
  • Detailed responsibilities include employee relations, leave management, HR Operations, Compliance, HRIS management, and onboarding.
  • Support HR operations, including employee changes, compliance, HRIS management, and occasional recruitment and onboarding.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee personnel files.
  • Stay informed about trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in HR, talent management, and employment law.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including Unemployment, Form I9, EEO, AAP, ADA, ACA, OSHA, FLSA, Wage and Hour, and FMLA requirements.
  • Oversee internal audits of HR records, systems, and databases; monitor key HR metrics and generate reports.
  • Review and update policies to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate on tools and initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction and growth.
  • Explain benefits programs to employees, address inquiries, and assist with the enrollment process.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with a minimum of 3 years of HR administrative experience
  • Working knowledge of core HR functions including employee relations, onboarding, benefits, and compliance.
  • Strong expertise in Virginia employment law and HR compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office. Experience with Workforce Now (ADP) is a plus.
  • PHR or SHRM CP certification preferred.
