Specialty Rx is a dedicated Long-Term Care (LTC) pharmacy serving skilled nursing and assisted living communities. We are proud to deliver personalized service, clinical excellence, and operational reliability to our partner facilities. As we expand into Roanoke, VA, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) to lead this exciting new venture.
The Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) is a hands‑on management position responsible for overseeing all aspects of pharmacy operations while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company regulations. This role is ideal for a proactive leader who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and is passionate about driving performance and quality in long‑term care pharmacy services. Will be a hands on PIC, this is a new start up location for the region.
The PIC will report directly to the Director of Pharmacy Operations.
- Oversee daily pharmacy operations and ensure compliance with federal, state, and company regulations and SOPs.
- Serve as a working leader by actively participating in order review, verification, and dispensing processes.
- Review medication orders for appropriateness (drug selection, dosing, potential interactions, and administration).
- Ensure medications are accurately dispensed, labeled, and delivered in a timely manner.
- Communicate with facility staff, physicians, and nurses to resolve medication‑related issues and provide clinical recommendations.
- Supervise and support pharmacy staff, fostering a culture of accountability, quality, and teamwork.
- Maintain proper documentation, including controlled drug logs, and ensure security of all medications.
- Maintain and update patient profiles including medical history and clinical data.
- Perform on‑call duties as required.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure readiness for audits and inspections.
- Active Virginia Pharmacist license (in good standing).
- 10–15 years of experience in hospital, retail, or LTC pharmacy settings.
- Prior experience in Long‑Term Care pharmacy strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
- Proficiency in pharmacy systems;
Framework
LTC/ECM experience a plus. - Experience with start‑up Pharmacy Preferred.
