Old Southwest is seeking a PRN PTA to join the team!
Position SummaryThe Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides rehabilitative services under the supervision and direction of a licensed Physical Therapist. The PTA works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to promote optimal patient outcomes, improve mobility, and enhance quality of life for residents in a skilled nursing facility setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Implement physical therapy treatment plans as established by the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Assist residents in improving mobility, strength, balance, coordination, and endurance.
- Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfer training, and other interventions in accordance with plan of care.
- Observe and document resident performance, progress, and responses to treatment; communicate observations and concerns to the Physical Therapist.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and care planning.
- Instruct residents, families, and caregivers in exercises and safe mobility techniques.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation per facility, state, and federal requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards (CMS, state board, facility policies).
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive therapy environment.
- Support continuity of care by collaborating with nursing, occupational therapy, and speech therapy staff.
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Current, active state licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Current CPR certification.
- Experience in a SNF or geriatric setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching during therapy sessions.
- Ability to assist with resident transfers and mobility safely.
