Substation Electrical Engineer - ( 189530 )
The successful candidate will be part of a team that provides design support for large and small‑scale substation engineering projects. This role provides a growth opportunity for a self‑directed individual who wants to learn and take on new challenges.
Responsibilities- Protection and control design.
- Assign project tasks and provide technical guidance to junior team members on moderate to highly complex projects.
- Perform QC reviews for work performed by junior and mid‑level engineers and/or designers.
- Work with senior engineers and technical leaders to identify and develop specific technical expertise and attend training and seminars focused on further development and understanding of complex concepts related to the discipline.
- Assist with developing technical papers and/or presentations that showcase HDR’s technical capabilities at industry conferences or other events.
- Conduct quality control reviews of projects from other teams on an as‑needed basis.
- Work independently and may direct, mentor, train, and/or supervise efforts of less‑experienced EITs and/or designers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Previous experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (e.g., PLS‑CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Auto Pipe, Revit).
- US‑born citizenship is required due to client contract requirements.
- An active participant of the employee‑owned culture.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years of substation design experience.
- Experience using standard industry design software.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Some travel may be required.
- Preference given to local candidates.
