HDR is seeking a Senior Mechanical Power Engineer to join our national Power Generation team. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will help our clients develop, contract, and implement natural gas and potentially renewable energy generation projects while serving as Engineer of Record or Owner’s Engineer. The role supports power generation projects across utility, IPP, industrial, and institutional sectors.

- Lead the project mechanical team and coordinate with other engineering disciplines; monitor and communicate project status; provide mechanical engineering support for detailed design and owner’s engineer projects on both technical and contractual levels.
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in power generation design.
- Gas turbine, steam turbine and/or large reciprocating engine experience or subject matter expertise.
- Design experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation.
- Previous experience with an engineering power consulting or EPC firm desired.
- Minimum 10 years of experience, ideally in the fossil power industry with a blend of design and owner’s engineer projects.
- Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Willing to mentor less experienced engineers and EITs.
- Proficient at working within an established schedule and budget.
- Position will include an expectation of less than 10% travel for meetings with clients and vendors as well as project site visits.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- A minimum of 10 years of experience
- Professional Engineers license (PE or P.Eng)
- Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Auto Pipe, and Revit)

Compensation& Location
The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. The targeted salary range for this position (based on experience and location) is $108,661 - $204,250.
