GFT is seeking experienced Substation Engineers (Electrical Engineers) to join our expanding Power Group. As a substation engineer, you will lead or support utility and power substation projects, taking responsibility for design, layout, and delivery of high‑voltage substation solutions.

• Develop substation layout drawings including plans, elevations, yard layouts, grounding details, raceway details, control building layouts, cable lists, and material lists for new and existing substations.
• Design single‑line, three‑line, and auxiliary AC/DC power systems, DC schematics, SCADA and communication systems, relay panel layouts, equipment wiring, and cable schedules.
• Prepare calculations, reports, and equipment specifications for clients.
• Collaborate internally to pursue power substation projects regionally and nationally, increasing GFT’s presence in the power delivery business.
• Build and nurture client relationships, working across multiple disciplines within the office.
• Contribute to proposals, bids, reports, and presentations.

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer license or on the path to obtaining licensure.
• 3+ years progressive experience in design, engineering, and project management within the power and utility industry.
• Interest in or direct experience working in the consulting engineering profession.
• Demonstrated proficiency with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project) for scope, schedule, and budget management.
• Design experience in high‑voltage substation and distribution projects.
• Experience creating quality technical solutions and delivering major power delivery projects.
• Commitment to strong business performance, continuous improvement, and best practices.

• Advanced degree (strongly preferred).
• Experience with AutoCAD, Micro Station, or Inventor.

The salary range for this role is $77,000‑$155,000, dependent on experience and geographic location.
