Job DescriptionThe Department of Biology invites applications for a one-year, full-time, temporary faculty position to begin August 10, 2026. We seek a colleague qualified to teach lecture and lab for undergraduate, Human Anatomy & Physiology I (BIOL 310) and Human Anatomy & Physiology II (BIOL 311) at Radford University's Roanoke site. We seek an instructor who will deliver high-quality, engaging instruction, and support student success through active learning, assessment, and accessible office hours.
A typical teaching load is one to two sections of lecture and two to three sections of lab (up to 15 contact hours per week). Instructors may teach both BIOL 310 and A&P II BIOL 311 in the same semester. The position will include teaching responsibilities in both Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 in Roanoke, Virginia. Anatomy and Physiology courses in Roanoke serve a range of health-focused undergraduate students, including Nursing, EMS, and Respiratory Therapy majors.
The Department of Biology actively supports our instructors with access to professional development opportunities through Radford’s Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning and encourage participation in departmental, college, and university-wide events.
Required QualificationsAll faculty must have at least a Master’s degree in Biology or a related field/discipline in which they are teaching with 18 hours of course work related to the course(s) being taught. In some cases, subject to the approval by the Provost, a faculty member could be recommended for appointment based on substitution of significant experience for the degree.
Preferred Qualifications- Previous teaching experience.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter introducing who you are as an educator, including:
- Your approach to teaching A&P to Nursing, EMS, and Respiratory Therapy majors with clear examples as evidence, and
- An explanation for why the Department of Biology at Radford University.
Your cover letter must be single-spaced, 2-pages maximum, no less than 11-point font, 1-inch margins, and use Times New Roman, Aptos, Arial, or Calibri font.

Candidates must also submit their curriculum vitae and the names and contact information for three professional references (not part of your letter page limit).
Transcripts:
Applicants must submit an unofficial copy of transcripts of post-secondary course work with the application. If the applicant’s official transcripts are on file in the Office of the Provost, a statement indicating such, must be submitted in lieu of the documents with the application. Official transcripts of all post-secondary course work will be required upon selection for hire.
