Position Overview

North Cross School is seeking a dynamic, collaborative educator to serve as its Dean of the Middle School. The Dean of the Middle School supports the academic, social, and emotional well‑being of students by fostering a positive, inclusive, and developmentally responsive school culture. This role collaborates closely with faculty, families, and administrators to address student needs, guide behavior expectations, and ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.

• A strong background in and passion for middle school education.
• Excellent problem‑solving and written and oral communication skills.
• A proven record of classroom teaching and leadership experience.
• A deep desire to impart to students the agency, importance, and benefits of enriched academic excellence.

• Oversee the daily conduct and well‑being of middle school students.
• Implement an approach to discipline that fosters accountability and personal growth.
• Lead initiatives that strengthen community values, coordinate scheduling and service projects, and contribute to the overall growth and success of the middle school division.
• Maintain a visible and proactive presence during transitions, lunches, and breaks.
• Coordinate academic support plans for students, working closely with teachers and parents to ensure every child has the tools to succeed.
• With the Director of the Middle and Upper Schools, conduct regular classroom observations to support faculty growth and ensure a cohesive middle school curriculum.
• Act as the primary point of contact for parents regarding student life, behavioral concerns, and social dynamics.
• Facilitate clear, proactive communication between the school and families to build a strong partnership.
• Teach one to two periods per day of a core academic subject (English, Math, Science, Spanish, or History).
• Model best practices in pedagogy and classroom management for the broader faculty.
