Overview

Carilion Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for a BC/BE Rheumatologist to join a well-established group of six rheumatologists in a university-based academic practice located in Roanoke, Virginia that continues to grow and expand.

The practice sees a wide variety of rheumatological cases and offers full-spectrum, state-of-the-art, collaborative investigational and treatment services.

• Provide ambulatory care in the outpatient clinic.
• On-call in-person and virtual consultative services to hospital patients.
• Lead or participate in a Systemic Lupus, Difficult to treat RA and Gout specialty clinic.
• Operate a fellowship-led ultrasound-guided procedure clinic.
• Contribute to teaching with medical students, residents, rheumatology fellows, and fellows from other specialties on rheumatology elective; involvement with the fellowship program as desired.
• Engage in research opportunities including translation, clinical, and trial-based research.
• Explore leadership opportunities within the fellowship, division, and department; potential involvement with ACGME within the division and hospital system for the right candidate.

• Board-certified/board-eligible in Rheumatology.
• Experience is a plus but not required.
• Academic appointment available with the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.

• 4.5 day (90% clinical) work week.
• Guaranteed base salary with productivity and quality bonus and performance incentives.
• Large referral base of primary care physicians (200+).
• On-site imaging and labs: X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, PET scan, full range of lab services; 10-chair infusion suite on site and hospital-based infusion suite.
• Full range of integrated biopsy services with expedited reporting.
• Collaborative relationship with relevant specialists.
• Fully integrated EMR (EPIC).
• Call 1:7 (second on-call).
