Assistant Editor – Roanoke Times

The Roanoke Times, a regional newspaper and online news site in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, is seeking an assistant editor to help plan and edit daily news and sports coverage and enterprise content.

The ideal candidate will be a journalist with solid news judgment, strong editing skills and previous reporting and editing experience. The position involves working with journalists in Roanoke, Danville, Martinsville and Rocky Mount and editing news, sports and features articles. Experience managing investigative and in-depth reporting projects is a plus.

An understanding of basic photo and video editing, page design and social media posting are part of the job as well. A commitment to teaching, as well as managing, younger journalists is essential. This position also involves some evening and weekend editing work.
