Division is searching for aBridge/Structural Superintendent toprovide overall on-site leadership and management on a construction project in relation to bridge work.
The Structural Superintendent is considered the Company's representative and main point of contact for all work relating to the bridges on a project. The position is responsible fortheflow of communication between the client's on-site representatives, inspectors, subcontractors, craft employees,and Company personnel. The Superintendent plans, coordinates, and supervises on-site bridge work functions including scheduling, material control, and day-to-day direction of field personnel.

Essential Functions- Builds projectin accordance withall plans and specifications, examining blueprints todeterminedimensions of structure.
- Determinessequence of activities concerned with fabrication, assembly, and erection of structure.
- Analyzeconditionof bridge structure.
- In concert with the Project Manager, develops a Grand Plan/Schedule of operation and effectively communicates to all employees.
- Effectivelyutilizesresources,i.e.people, equipment, and materials.
- Ordersprocurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
- Supervises subcontractors (if applicable) to ensure quality and schedule requirements
- Preplans and communicates project activities.
- Prior to construction, reviews with Project Manager andsubmitscomments on detail budget, time restraints, cost codes, and purchase control
- Reviews cost status report for accuracy and integrity. Investigates and takes corrective action in areas of indicated or potential overruns. Maintains or improves margin through well-planned and improved operations.
- Establishes a level of quality by which all completed work is measured.
- Responsible for day-to-day quality control of both company-performed / subcontractor work and ensures that work conforms to Contract requirements and company standards. Identifies and corrects non-conforming work expeditiously and competently.
- Is in direct charge of safety and accident/incident control for the project. Understands,communicatesand enforces safety policy onprojectat all times.

- Establishes positive relationships with owners,owner’s reps, architects, and engineers.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- A minimum of ten (10) years or more of bridge management related experience is required for this position, with an emphasis on major civil construction work.
- Working knowledge of standards, specifications, codes,regulations and laws.
- Knowledge of construction techniques.
- 8+yearsbridge work experience.
- 3 – 5 years in a supervisory position.
- Valid Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record required.
- DOT experience required
- Working knowledge of scheduling software.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations
Travel within the Southwest Virginia Region.
Supervisory ResponsibilityDirectly supervises three to eight employees involved in each project. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance withthe organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequentlyexposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
