Business Unit: Utility & Power Generation
Position OverviewVirginia Transformer Corp. is seeking a Utility Business Analyst to support our growing utility and Independent Power Producer (IPP) market
. This role partners closely with Sales, Engineering, Operations, Finance, and IT to analyze data, improve business processes, and support strategic decision-making across utility-focused transformer projects.

, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights that support operational excellence and customer success.
- Analyze business performance across utilities and Independent Power Producers (IPPs).
- Support forecasting, demand planning, and backlog analysis for utility transformer programs.
- Evaluate customer trends, contract structures, lead times, pricing, and margin drivers in the utility market.
- Partner with Sales and Program Management to support bids, proposals, and long-term utility agreements.
- Research and document opportunities found in publicly available information, including published integrated resource plans, press releases, market forecasts and business plans published by various parties.
- Serve as a key contributor to the enterprise data warehouse, ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable data.
- Develop dashboards, KPIs, and reports related to:
- Utility project performance
- Order intake and backlog
- Production capacity and lead times
- Cost, margin, and profitability
- Translate business needs into data requirements and analytical models.
- Validate data integrity across ERP, CRM, and operational systems.
- Identify gaps and inefficiencies in utility-focused business processes and recommend improvements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with VTC’s Flawless Execution and Highest Quality pillars.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to standardize reporting and analytics across utility programs.
- Act as a liaison between business teams and IT/data teams.
- Present insights and recommendations to leadership in a clear, actionable manner.
- Support executive-level reporting and strategic initiatives tied to utility and power generation growth.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field AND/OR
3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or similar role. - Experience working with or supporting utility and/or Independent Power Producer (IPP) markets.
- Hands‑on experience with data warehouses, reporting tools, and analytics platforms.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Excel, and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
- Experience working with ERP systems (SAP, Syteline, Oracle, or similar).
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Experience in manufacturing, power equipment, or heavy industrial environments.
- Knowledge of utility procurement processes, long‑term contracts, and capital projects.
- Familiarity with S&OP, forecasting, or capacity planning in a manufacturing setting.
- Exposure to cloud‑based data platforms (Azure, Snowflake, AWS, etc.).
