Front Desk Receptionist; Part-Time

Roanoke Higher Education Center has a part-time position available for an individual interested in working a set Thursday through Saturday schedule. This position is primarily responsible for handling inquiries and issues that arise at the Center’s front desk and online chat, assisting students, clients, members, and visitors, and making referrals to other Center staff as appropriate. Inquiries may also require appropriate referrals to member institutions and agencies, as well as to organizations external to the Center.

Duties also include administrative support such as distributing mail, issuing parking passes, and assisting other staff with projects, meetings, and events.

The successful candidate must have the ability to effectively interact with students, faculty, staff, and other patrons, have a good command of the English language–both orally and in writing–possess strong customer service skills, and maintain a professional appearance at all times.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• Basic computer skills, including word processing, data entry, and internet searching
• Previous customer service experience, preferably as a receptionist or in a similar role

Selected applicant will work 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 pm. Thursday and Friday, and 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays, for a total of 23 hours a week.

Starting pay: $16 to $17 per hour.

Position is also granted 20 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year.
