School Custodial Cleaner – ABM Industries

Job Summary: The School Custodian performs general cleaning duties in designated areas at a K‑12 school, college or university campus environment.

Job Description: This position requires maintaining cleanliness and safety throughout the school facilities.

• Clean and maintain assigned area, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways.
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors.
• Check trash receptacles regularly and empty as needed.
• Follow procedures for the safe use of chemical cleaners and power equipment.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager of minor or major repairs or additions.
• Communicate effectively with clients, co‑workers, shift coordinators, supervisors, and managers.
• Separate recycling into proper receptacles.
• Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors, windows, ceilings, and walls.
• Polish hard surfaces, such as woodwork and stainless‑steel surfaces.
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas.
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas manually or with hand trucks.
• Clean interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
• Perform seasonal tasks such as sweeping walkways, raking leaves, cutting grass, and removing snow.
• Maintain restroom cleanliness (clean and polish as needed).
• Comply with all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards established by the Company, Clients, and regulatory authorities.

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required; on‑the‑job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED, or college degree required.

• Prior customer service experience.
• At least one year of similar work experience.
