Overview
LHH is working with a growing mid-size company that is looking for a new Senior Accountant that has strong Fixed Assets and Leases experience. This person will oversee comprehensive daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting for all aspects of the asset life cycle, including acquisition, maintenance, depreciation, transfer, and disposal of capital assets. This role will collaborate closely with project teams, accounts payable, regional finance, and tax departments to ensure timely and compliant fixed asset and lease accounting services.
Job Responsibilities- Provide fixed asset accounting guidance to controllers and project teams across various regions.
- Manage the monthly transfer of Assets Under Construction (AUC) to Fixed Assets (Asset Capitalization).
- Process monthly asset retirements and transfers.
- Support AUC accounting across all business areas by reviewing cost activities for accuracy and completeness, ensuring timely capitalization of fixed assets.
- Address inquiries from regional teams, accounts payable, M&A, and external audit teams regarding fixed and lease accounting.
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidation of depreciations, including interest charges to CAPEX, ensuring accurate depreciation of assets.
- Ensure that new, modified, or terminated leases are entered into the Pro-Lease software in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with outsourced partners on new and existing leases.
- Request setup for new lease vendors and manage any changes.
- Reconcile lease expenses and submit lease payments from Pro-Lease to accounts payable.
- Coordinate with property management teams, landlords, and controllers regarding building lease issues.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts for assigned entities, including other receivables, accrued accounts payable, and other liabilities.
- Work closely with management and the Corporate Accounting team to understand consolidation requirements and ensure compliance with statutory accounting principles.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related business field is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a preference for US GAAP knowledge. Public accounting experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
- Ability to manage large datasets effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct independent research and analysis to recommend corrective actions.
- Experience with major ERP accounting systems; familiarity with Net Suite is a plus.
- Knowledge of Adaptive or Office Connect is a plus.
- Experience with Pro-Lease is a plus.
