Position Summary
This position is responsible for the monitoring of cardiac rhythms, documentation, and notifying primary nurse of abnormal rhythms. Responsible for desk functions, answering telephone and patient call system, replenishing charts, etc. If certified as a Nursing Assistant, may work in this capacity when the telemetry census is two or less, in absence of scheduled Nursing Assistant. Modifies and delivers care that is specific to the age, growth, and level of development of patients including adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
The secretarial duties are an integral part of the nursing unit, being involved in patient care and documentation of patient care. While not directly responsible for care of the patient, the Unit Secretary is responsible for assuring patient care is accomplished. Responsible for all general duties and is the pivot person in communications.
The Monitor Tech is accountable to and evaluated by the Nurse Manager.

- Contacts physician's office timely to relay information, make discharge appointments, or assist the nurse in obtaining necessary orders.
