Education/QualificationsRequired:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Qualifications:
- Experience from North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand is a must.
- Minimum Two (2) years of clinical experience post qualification
- Minimum One (1) year in the Operating Room
Current and in good Standing Nursing License/Registration (RN) to practice in country of residence
Job Duties and Responsibilities:- Perform detailed neurological assessments including Glasgow Coma Scale, pupil response, limb strength, and level of consciousness.
- Monitor for signs of increased intracranial pressure and report changes immediately.
- Provide pre operative and post operative care for neurosurgical procedures such as tumor resection, shunt placement, spinal surgery, and cranial reconstruction.
- Monitor and manage external ventricular drains, VP shunts, and other neurosurgical devices when applicable.
- Assess surgical sites for bleeding, CSF leakage, and infection.
- Administer prescribed medications including anticonvulsants, steroids, analgesics, and IV therapies within the scope of the Registered Nurse license.
- Recognize and respond promptly to seizures and neurological emergencies.
- Collaborate closely with pediatric neurosurgeons, neurologists, intensivists, and rehabilitation teams.
- Provide age appropriate education and emotional support to patients and families regarding condition, surgery, and recovery expectations.
- Maintain strict infection prevention practices, particularly for neurosurgical wounds and invasive devices.
- Participate in emergency response and code situations.
- Maintain accurate and timely neurological documentation.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives related to neurosurgical outcomes and patient safety.
- Support discharge planning including rehabilitation referrals and long term follow up coordination.
- Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and accountability in all aspects of care.
