SCOPE OF SERVICE: Ward 5-Post Partum

• Postpartum patients with newborns
• Antenatal patients for booked elective caesarean section
• Patient for combined obstetrics and gynecology surgery

PRIMARY PATIENT DIAGNOSES:

• Elective cesarean sections
• Post vaginal and assisted vaginal deliveries- complicated or uncomplicated
• Post caesarean section- complicated and uncomplicated
• Post gynecology surgery
• Well newborn

NURSING PROCEDURES:

• Obstetric assessment
• Postnatal care
• Pre and post-operative care for cesarean section
• Pre and post-operative care for gynecology surgery
• Breastfeeding advice and support
• Postpartum contraceptive counselling
• Obstetric emergency care for antenatal and post-partum patients
• Newborn care
• Vaccination for mother and baby
